Delhi working women forced to relocate due to safety concerns

Delhi working women forced to relocate due to safety concerns
Dear friends,
It come as a rude shock to all of us that the capital of the country has become so unsafe for women that citing lack of safety concerns, around 43 per cent of working in Delhi are willing to relocate outside the city even at the cost of a pay cut, according to a recent study.
The survey conducted by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry included working women, students and job aspirants, who all said that women are exposed to unsafe environment in Delhi.
The survey “Women Safety in Delhi: Issues and Challenges to Employment” is based on feedback of 3,400 women in Delhi.
"..Around 43 per cent of the outside working women respondents unanimously felt that they are looking for a job out of Delhi in other safe places preferably in cities nearby their native towns as Delhi has become unsafe for women. They are ready to compromise on their earnings for the safety,” the survey said.
It found that working women are inclined to work in day shifts with nearly 80 per cent of the respondents opting for day shifts.
Around 64 per cent of working women said that crimes against women had impacted their productivity as they now hesitate stay in their workplaces till late hours.
Who is responsible for this pathetic state of affairs? In Delhi, Congress ruled for 15 years and at the Centre, Congress led UPA ruled for 10 years. During all these years, the situation has deteriorated.
If we want to turn the tide and ensure empowerment of women in the true sense, we must have a new government which is committed to women safety. So let us vote for change this time.
